About Us

Epic Silhouettes is the latest baby of photo journalist Ashley Coombes and his wife Anna. In recent years they have been running a side-line in private photographic commissions and the silhouettes have been a surprise success.

What started as a personal fixation has struck a chord with lots of our customers. Photographic silhouettes with their accuracy and vivid detail - unruly hair and all -  provide a modern take on the the classic profile bringing it right up to date.

So far we have been taking silhouettes for our clients at School Fairs etc, but were facing the problem of what to do if someone was missing!  So we have been working on a way for converting profile photos taken by you and sent in for us to do the suprisingly fiddly design work necessary to produce a decent photographic silhouette.

We hope taking our offerings on-line will open up what we do to a wider audience, and be easier for our clients.

Ash and Anna live with their children in Gartmore, Stirlingshire. Their business is run from home, over looking Ben Lomond which always helps when in need of inspiration!

About our Suppliers

All our commissions are a collaboration between you the client, our design team, and our UK suppliers  -   carefully chosen craftspeople and specilaists who  care as passionately about their craft as we do about ours.

We are proud of the fact that the artist's eye has not been sacrificed to "the system". While we have standardised our products to a certain degree,  we realise that every profile is different - (suprisingly so!).  Our suppliers  will tweak the lay-out or proportion to make sure the end result is "right".

The resulting products are wonderfully personal and have that extra tactile quality that comes with something beautiful, designed & created by hand.  It may take a little longer, but we think the results are worth it.

About our Products

There are a million options for personalisation out there these days - but while the personalisation may be great - the quality of the product so often lets it down.

We have unashamedly gone for the quality option of individually crafted goods. We work individually and personally on every commission, as do our suppliers. The results are beautiful , and durable. Properly cared for they should be "forever" presents, offering "value" in the true sense of the word.

All prices on the site include our design work for the particular product - and that of our suppliers. The silhouette design fee is a one-off charge which stays the same - however many products you choose to use it with.
