Our trays are made, lacquered and gilded by hand in Yorkshire by the endlessly enthusiastic Sally who knows more about the technicalities of a good tray than any one else!

Most personalised trays are lacquered before the image is applied, the image being sealed with only a couple of layers of lacquer which makes them quicker to mass produce, but vulnerable to peeling, heat or water damage. 

Sally seals the picture under 16 layers of hand-applied lacquer giving a totally sealed image that will last. The finish is pleasingly "matt", the gilding of the edges and wash lines applied by hand and again has not a hint of  "bling".

Our trays also have the advantage over glass-bottom trays which are heavy to lift and the glass subject to cracking.
